At 2pm, the couple’s daughter had called police after receiving a call from her parents, said Blue Mountains Police Inspector Scott McAlpine.
He said the woman had been feeling sick and was in pain from a pre-existing ankle injury.
The couple managed to walk to an area accessible by 4WD where they met police and paramedics and were driven out of the area.
