A national expert in the creative industries is heading to the Blue Mountains this month thanks to Blue Mountains Economic Enterprise (BMEE) Creative Industries Cluster.
Monica Davidson, business advisor and creative industries expert, will present a series of workshops in Springwood.
Ms Davidson is a writer and filmmaker by trade who learned how to run a successful creative business and now shares that knowledge with others. On Thursday, March 15 she will give a free presentation titled “Get Ready for the Boom” at the Oriental Hotel in Springwood, providing information and motivation for creative professionals of the Blue Mountains.
On Friday, March 16 Ms Davidson will present two workshops at the Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub in Springwood. The workshops have been heavily subsidised through the Business Connect program and will be three hour long for under $30 per workshop. The workshops – “Top Ten Tips for Creative Business” and “Marketing Strategy for Creative Businesses” - are tailored specifically to creative people who want to be self-employed. The tips are relevant no matter what your profession – filmmakers, writers, musicians, designers, visual artists, performers – all can benefit from a quick introduction or refresher to the basics of creative business.
“We know we have world-class creative talent here in the Blue Mountains, but what we’ve found through our work with the Creative Industries Cluster is there’s a real demand amongst creatives for business skills training and knowledge sharing,” said BMEE CEO Bernie Fehon.
Tickets for the workshops can be purchased at www.creativeplusbusiness.com/workshops/regional-nsw/.
Registration for the Thursday evening can be completed at: www.bmee.org.au/get-ready-boom-creative-industries-night-ori-hotel/
Monica Davidson will return to the Blue Mountains in June to deliver two more workshops.
