Organisers have promised a bigger and better festival for the annual Springwood Foundation Day on Saturday, April 28.
Boasting more than 140 stalls, due to an overwhelming demand for stall space, organisers even had to turn prospective stallholders away this year.
To be held in the Springwood town centre from 9am til 4pm, thousands of people are expected to celebrate the spirit of our town.
“Whether young or old, you will find much to see and do as you stroll through Springwood on the day,” said organising committee member Kim Cowper.
Last year's rock and roll theme will return this year as it proved popular, and people can kick up their heels to all-time favourite swing band the Aston Martinis.
Liam Gray, Steve Head (Elvis), Penny Dreadful, Cassidy Rae and the LKM Dancers are also set to provide entertainment.
Ms Cowper said this year a few new volunteers had joined the organising committee, which had taken a full year to debrief, plan and create the festival.
“We’re always looking for new ideas and new energy to help make the future events as good, if not better,” she said.
The main road will be closed to traffic from 6am to 6pm, allowing pedestrians to enjoy the stalls, live entertainment all day on four main stages, rides for the kids and much more.
Macquarie Road will be closed from 6am-6pm between Raymond Road and Ferguson Road for the event.
It’s recommended residents do not leave their cars overnight on the Friday in the main street or in the IGA carpark as they will be locked in until 6pm Saturday when the road reopens.
Organisers are encouraging people to use public transport on the day as parking can be difficult.
A temporary bus stop will be set up out the front of Aquinas Court, opposite Springwood Motor World, as well as two temporary taxi ranks out the front of Braemar Gallery and behind the commuter carpark in Jerseywold Avenue.
