A woman is due to undergo surgery after being injured in a head-on crash in Blaxland on Monday night.
Emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway about 8.25pm after an eastbound Tiida and a westbound Citroen C3 collided head-on near the intersection of Coughlan Road.
A 27-year-old woman from Faulconbridge, who was driving the Citreon, was trapped within the wreckage and had to be released with specialist rescue equipment.
She sustained fractures to her left leg and is due to undergo surgery today [Tuesday June 19].
Her injuries are not described as being life-threatening.
An 18-year-old woman from Airly in Victoria, who was driving the Tiida, was taken to Nepean Hospital to be checked as a precaution.
She has also undergone mandatory testing.
