Estimator (Quantity Surveyor)

Your new company
This well-known State Government Organisation and one of Australia’s largest Regional Public Transport is currently seeking an Estimator to provide detailed cost estimation, verification, monitoring services for the organisations Major Periodic Maintenance projects across all project stages to ensure the business delivery and governance framework requirements are met.

Your new role
As an Estimator (Quantity Surveyor), you will be responsible for:

• Develop and maintain the existing MPM unit rates library of major treatment options for all railway infrastructure asset types (track, civil and facilities, signalling and communications).
• Project delivery phase cost management assistance including tender schedule preparation, tender evaluation / negotiation support / recommendation, assessment of contractor / supplier progress claims and variations.
• Investigate and review cost control documentation and identify ambiguities, risks, and key issues to be considered.
• Participate in the undertaking / review of lifecycle cost analysis for key assets, asset classes and network corridors.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management or Engineering with experience in cost management and using tools such as Costex, preferably in a private practice or construction organisation. As well as strong knowledge of the main procurement methods and their application with respect to the ‘Tactical Procurement’ of small to large sized projects.
