The main street of Springwood, Macquarie Road, will again come to life with food, dance, music and rides, for the annual Springwood Foundation Day.
Three stages — the Lister and Cole Stage, opposite the Town Square, the Royal Stage, and the Ori Stage — will feature local dance groups and music performances throughout the day, from around 9am.
Winmalee High School performers, PAWS Dance Academy of Winmalee, LKM Studio, the Blue Mountains Concert Band and the Mountains Youth Band are just some of the performers on the Ori and Lister and Cole stages.
School leaders from Winmalee and Springwood High and St Columba’s High School will be hosts for the entertainment.
On the Lister and Cole stage look out for the official opening ceremony including a traditional Welcome to Country by Darug and Gundungurra elder Uncle Graeme Cooper at 10.30 am.
Mayor Mark Greenhill will officially open proceedings, and the Volunteer of the Year awards will be presented.
The Royal hosts its usual high quality line-up of local talent — in a new location opposite the hotel — with popular band Brotherfunk entertaining crowds in the lead-up to the Dash at 12.45 and the grand parade at 1pm.
Some of the other acts on the Royal Hotel stage include Scandalous just after 10am, Wolfie from 11am as well as Dr and the Badman at 1.45pm and much more. For the kids, sideshow alley will be in full swing in the IGA carpark, with thrilling rides and attractions. At Manners Park, the littlies will delight in Matilda’s animal nursery and the plaster fun house. And don’t miss out on the showbags —get in before the Royal Easter Show!
More than 40 groups will march in the grand parade including local schools and sporting groups. Some have marched for many years, but several new groups are coming along this year.
