Looking for school holiday entertainment and programs that engage?
Try miniFEST at The Joan where the kids’ imaginations will run wild.
Held from January 24-28, miniFEST is a program of four events, featuring two hilarious theatrical performances by Corpus, a music festival and an international film for kids, Little Big Shots.
Created by Canadian dance-theatre group Corpus, Les Moutons look like sheep, and sound like sheep. This cast of clueless man-sized sheep will have you in laughter in this fantasy, wordless, view of sheep behaviour. Set in a picture-book country scene, meet Julie, Marie-Louise and Bernadette three healthy ewes and César, a young ram.
The funniest imitators of sheep on the planet, the performance twists reality in surprising ways and takes audience interaction to new heights as they engage in routine farm activities of shearing, feeding, milking and much more – under the watchful eye of a stoic shepherd.
After a brief musical interlude meet A Flock of Flyers – our galaxy’s most optimistic pilots, left without planes due to budget costs the grounded pilots are determined to fly at any cost. The group of wannabe flyers still have their helmets and uniforms and continue their precise, regimented training in an imaginary airfield. The sky's the limit in Flock of Flyers as kids get to watch the hilarious spectacle of a group of helmeted grown-ups, dressed all in black running around flapping their arms in military precision formations as if they really might take off.

After washing down some popcorn with a popper, take a seat for Little Big Shots – Australia’s best international film festival for kids. Inspiring young minds through film, Little Big Shots screens to thousands of kids every year from tiny tots as young as two-years-old to older tweens.
It features the best in local and international children's shorts, animations, documentaries and, amazingly, child-produced films.
Finally, some of Triple J’s unearthed brightest new musos will lead the kids in a dance and a song at miniMUSIC lounge especially for kids aged 3-10.
