Endeavour Energy has asked Lower Mountains residents to help limit their electricity usage today by turning off pool pumps and limiting use of air-conditioners as crews work to repair damaged cables following a fire in its Blaxland substation last night [Wednesday].
This will help maintain power supplies to 7500 residential and small business customers in Blaxland, East Blaxland, Lapstone, Warrimoo, Glenbrook, Valley Heights, Mount Riverview and Springwood as well as Emu Plains and Leonay.
“While Endeavour Energy crews are working as quickly and safely as possible as they can to repair the major cables in the substation, customers can also lend a hand where possible to prevent further interruptions and inconvenience today,” an Endeavour spokesperson said.
“Power was restored to all 7500 customer at 1am [Thursday] by diverting supply from other nearby substations in Emu Plains and Springwood after Fire and Rescue NSW crews extinguished the fire in the basement of the substation around 9.30pm.
“Endeavour Energy is investigating the cause of the equipment failure but does not believe it was heat related.
“We apologise to customers for the inconvenience and thank them for their assistance and understanding today [Thursday].”
