The Blue Mountains Women’s Health and Resource Centre (BMWHRC) is running a health and wellbeing course for women in February.
“We as a nation are eating more, moving less and acquiring lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease at a much younger age than we have in the past,” said BMWHRC’s Lyn Pagan, who will be running the seven week course.
“Women because of their multiple roles such as mother, partner, carer and worker have less time nowadays to look after their own health and can often have a complex relationship with food. Helping women to prioritise their health when they are busy is the issue. Women are often too tired to even think about cooking let alone plan meals with all the vitamins and minerals that we are supposed to need and as for exercising regularly – forget it. It is so much easier to reach for chocolate!
“I am absolutely delighted that for once the centre will be offering a course in the evening in order to attract women that may not be able to attend a daytime group,” said Ms Pagan.
The course will be held at 124 Lurline Street, Katoomba, starting Wednesday, February 15. Cost is $25. Bookings are essential on 4782 5133.
