Exploring remnants in the landscape, Selena Seifert’s paintings and etchings explore detritus - how remains connect us to memory such as faded flowers in graveyards to eroded historical debris.
The contrasts of nature and consumerism in these evocative paintings and prints play with our senses of time and place.
Seifert describes her work as “naturescapes” because they are somewhat snapshots of pieces of nature. They are always inspired by her love of colour, texture and nature.
Seifert is a multi-disciplinary artist who works in a range of media creating contemporary paintings, mosaics, and public artworks. She has exhibited her work across Australia, Europe and the USA.
Seifert has held five solo exhibitions and her public artworks are dotted across the Blue Mountains, Sydney and the Central West.
Remnants is on at Wild Valley Art Park, 321 Blaxland Road, Wentworth Falls, February 18-April 2. Open Saturday and Sunday 10am-4pm or by appointment anytime.
