Four years ago, Katoomba couple Adam Cousins and Kirsten Mulholland changed their lives by becoming cinema owners.
They took over Mt Vic Flicks from Ron and Diane Bayley, who had run it for 26 years.
And on Sunday, June 25, the owners – both previous and current – will join with a number of old faces to celebrate Mt Vic Flicks’ 30th birthday.
Ms Mulholland couldn’t believe four years had passed so quickly. The couple has made a number of major improvements to the old cinema, including new digital equipment, amplifier and speakers to give a bigger, better and louder picture.
A new screen which they had installed 18 months ago also allows them to screen 3D movies.
Mt Vic still screens arthouse movies, along with many new releases.
The 30th celebration will be marked with a screening of one of the very first films shown at the quaint Mountains venue – the Australian classic, Malcolm, starring Colin Friels, John Hargreaves, Lindy Davies and Chris Haywood.
Arrive at 4pm to catch Wendy Hambly on the organ, enjoy high tea and a glass of bubbly.
Tickets $18/$10 (ages 3-12) includes everything - even the bubbly. But bookings are recommended. Buy your tickets online at: trybooking.com/QNGV.
