TALK ON DENDROBIUMS

FIRST DAY COVERS
Blue Mountains Stamp Club members will meet on Friday, June 23 from 8pm at Katoomba Public School, Merriwa Street, Katoomba. DANCING FOR PEACE

POTTERY EXHIBITION
The Nepean Potters Society will hold their bi-annual exhibition and sale at Glenbrook Community Hall on Saturday and Sunday, June 24 and 25 from 9am-5pm each day. Entry is free. There will be a wide variety of unique pottery for sale. Details: Jan Needham, 4735 4747.
OPEN DAY
Blue Mountains Historical Society’s latest exhibition, Delicate: An Exhibition of Laces and Trims, will be on show in the Back-Room Exhibition Space when the society’s historical cottage, Tarella (99 Blaxland Road, Wentworth Falls) hosts an open day on Sunday, June 25 from 10am-4pm. In 1969, Beryl McLaughlin donated a collection of lace to the society which is believed to have been acquired by her brother, Geoffrey McLaughlin, while he was in Malta in 1915 serving in WW1. Major Geoffrey McLaughlin died at Passchendaele in 1917 and is buried in Belgium and the lace is treasured by the McLaughlin family. Admission to the exhibition is included in your entry to Tarella which is $5 for adults and $2 for children. For further details go to bluemountainshistory.com.
EVENING VIEW
The next dinner meeting of the Mountains Evening VIEW Club will be held on Tuesday, June 27 from 6.30pm at Springwood Sports Club. Club members will be celebrating their 45th birthday. VIEW stands for voice, interest and education of women. The charitable organisation also supports the Smith Family’s Learning for Life Program. New members and guests welcome. AUXILIARY HELPS
It's only a little hospital but it has a big reputation for patient care and Springwood Hospital Auxiliary raises funds to help keep it that way. The auxiliary meets monthly in the cottage in the garden grounds when members are updated on hospital and local health district matters and discuss equipment needed. Next meeting is on Tuesday, June 27 at 9.45am and everyone is welcome. The hospital is on Huntley Grange Road, Springwood. Details: 0409 644 210.
ACTOR SPEAKS
The next meeting of the Blue Mountains VIEW Club will be held on Wednesday, June 28 from 11am at the Waldorf Garden Resort. Guest speaker will be retired English actor, Lee Young. Lunch will follow. The VIEW Clubs of Australia work for the Smith Family, supporting children with their education.
