The name James Morrison is known throughout the world for his sheer brilliance as a jazz musician and an all round entertainer. He is, by anybody’s standard, a virtuoso in the true sense of the word.
Morrison is, by anybody’s standard, a virtuoso in the true sense of the word.
Besides the trumpet, this multi-instrumentalist also plays piano, all the brass, saxophones, and double bass. Therefore it is with great pleasure that the Blue Mountains Concert Society once again features the James Morrison Quintet at the Blue Mountains Theatre and Hub, on Saturday, July 22 at 7.30pm
Blue Mountains audiences would be familiar with the virtuosic playing of Morrison which has seen him performing with some of the jazz greats on all continents and with many of the philharmonic and symphony orchestras in America, the UK, Europe and in Australia.
In conjunction with the Adelaide University, Morrison runs a school of music at Mt Gambier offering scholarships to young talent. He also continues his education work overseas with appearances in New Orleans at the Jazz Educator’s Network Conference and workshops at the Juilliard School, the Thelonious Monk Institute and University of North Texas’s One O’Clock Lab Band.
Morrison does not indicate what the Quintet's program will be but it is certain the audience will be entertained with well known favourites in Morrison’s unique style. Tickets at www.bmconcerts.com, 4723 5050 or at the Blue Mountains Theatre box office.
