A photographic exhibition promoting women’s heart health is on display in Katoomba until October 9.
The Blue Mountains Women’s Health and Resource Centre in partnership with the Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre, Dianella Cottage, Mountains Outreach Community Services and Thrive Services, launched the much anticipated photographic exhibition – Love Your Heart, Women’s Hearts Matter.
Forty women photographers from the Blue Mountains, including women who attended photography workshops held by Sue Lightfoot and Sue Wildman, have submitted photographs portraying the many varied ways that women can love their hearts.
“The photographs certainly get the message across that we, as women, need to be aware of or heart health,” said Sarala Porter from the BMWHRC.
“However what is particularly gratifying is to see women who may not have exhibited before produce these beautiful, inspiring and original works”.
The exhibition is open for women to see from 9am–4.30 pm until Monday, October 9 at the Centre at 124 Lurline Street, Katoomba.
“We will soon be posting these photographs on our Facebook page so women who cannot come to the centre can access the photographs in another way,” said Ms Porter.
As part of the women’s heart health project, funded through a Heart Foundation grant, a booklet has been developed with the photographs reproduced and additional women’s heart health information added. Women interested in having a copy of the booklet can contact the centre on 4782 5133.
