Heavy rain has caused flooding on the Great Western Highway in Katoomba, forcing traffic diversions.
Police closed one westbound lane near Yeaman Bridge Road about 2.25pm on Friday, October 20. Light traffic was being diverted from the highway about 3.30pm with Live Traffic warning of “significant delays”.
Old Bathurst Road in the Lower Mountains was also closed on October 20. Blue Mountains City Council posted on its Facebook page: “Due to a combination of recent oil spills on the road and recent rain after a prolonged dry spell, the road is very slippery. While there have been no reported accidents a number vehicles have required assistance up the road.
“In the interest of public safety the road has been closed this morning (Friday) and it is anticipated to be reopened tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.”
