Young Paddington Bear fans can celebrate the return of the marmalade-munching character with special themed high tea “elevenses” at the Hydro Majestic Hotel from December 16 to 31 to coincide with the release of the Paddington 2 movie.

And 10 lucky children can “paw” over a bag of movie goodies while tucking into a grown-up high tea of fluffy scones, marmalade sandwiches and delectable handmade desserts.

The Hydro Majestic Hotel has 10 Paddington Bear packs to giveaway, each worth $60 and including a tote bag, pencil case, sandwich box, notebook, a stamp and bubble blower pen.

Actually, the Hydro Majestic has 60 Paddington 2 activity books to give to children booked for the special Paddington high tea with a paying adult. Be sure to mention “Paddington high tea” and the number of children attending, at the time of booking, to ensure your booklet is on hand.

Paddington 2 will be released in cinemas on December 21.

The much-anticipated sequel to the worldwide hit family film finds Paddington happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, where he has become a popular member of the community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes.

While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy’s hundredth birthday, Paddington spots a unique pop-up book in Mr Gruber’s antique shop and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy it.

But when the book is stolen, it’s up to Paddington and the Browns to unmask the thief.

Guest services manager of Escarpment Group, which owns the Hydro Majestic Hotel, Meagan Iervasi said: “With its huge rooms and ornately painted high ceilings, its dome and interesting nooks, rich colours and plush furnishings, the Hydro Majestic is a fantastical place for children (and bears).

“I can imagine Paddington settling into the Wintergarden Restaurant for elevenses before accidentally getting into some scrape with chef in the kitchens while on the hunt for marmalade.”
