An 81-year-old man was airlifted to hospital after his car rolled on the Great Western Highway at Valley Heights on Friday morning, December 8.
It is understood the car was traveling in a westbound lane when it was involved in a collision with another vehicle near Peninsula Road before hitting the median strip, rolling over when in the eastbound lane and then hitting a power pole.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter landed near the scene about 10.30am
NSW Fire & Rescue and Police Rescue teams worked to free the man. NSW Ambulance was also on the scene.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic treated the man for chest and lower limb injures while he remained trapped and throughout his removal from the wreckage.
He was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
