Blue Mountains Cultural Centre director Paul Brinkman said it would bring “renewed attention to this great outdoor gallery” – and a new artwork by acclaimed Melbourne artist Adnate is already achieving that goal.
Adnate finished the mural on December 12. A partnership between the cultural centre and Street Art Murals Australia (SAMA), it is the newest addition to the Katoomba Street Art Walk.
“The work is based on a local Wagana Dancer and in true Mountains spirit, many people from the community provided their support to help bring this piece to fruition,” said a SAMA spokesman.
Visitors to Katoomba witnessed the mural come to life from December 8. SAMA founders Jarrod Wheatley and Giles Fryer ran a guided tour of the Street Art Walk on Sunday, December 10.
