Blue Mountains residents can hear from former Australian Test bowler Glenn McGrath when Penrith Cricket Club hosts its eighth annual Captain’s Lunch at Pepper Stadium, Penrith on February 16.
McGrath will be joined at the fundraiser lunch by Panthers rugby league’s latest international player, Reagan Campbell-Gillard.
Glenn McGrath made his test debut in November 1993 and played his last test in January 2007 at the SCG and his last One Day International in April of the same year.
Campbell-Gillard made his NRL debut in the season opener in 2015 and since then he was awarded the Merv Cartwright Medal for Penrith’s best player, named the inaugural Dally M interchange player of the year and made his Kangaroos Test debut in Australia’s World Cup-winning squad.
Funds raised from The Captain’s Lunch will go to the development of cricket at Penrith Cricket Club and the Penrith district. In the last few years the club has produced Australian Test fast bowler and former Mount Riverview resident Patrick Cummins and state players Josh Lalor, Patrick Jackson and Jordan Silk. A donation each year is made to The Great Walk Foundation and this year also to the McGrath Foundation.
Tickets the lunch at 12.30pm are $145 each for a two course meal and beverages. A table of 10 can be purchased for $1400.
