Jessica Peters’ amazing ability to bend her body into all sorts of weird and wonderful shapes has seen her play a major role in the film Going for Gold.
The film opens on March 8 in Hoyts, Event Cinemas, Village and Majestic cinemas.
Filmed in South Australia in June 2017, it stars American Kelli Berglund, and is about a group of gymnasts who form a cheerleading squad.
Jessica, from Winmalee, showcases her contortion moves in the film and also turns her hand to acting.
For many of the cheerleading routines there was even a stunt double to step in.
“She looked a little bit like me,” Jessica said with a laugh.
“For the big tricks we had a stunt double. It was in the best interests of the producers to keep us safe.”
Jessica was excited to meet Berglund, the young star of the Disney XD series Lab Rats.
“She was so amazing, lovely, down to earth and kind,” the 16-year-old said.
Jessica spent a month of long days filming in Adelaide. Often she’d be up by 5.30am for hair, make-up and wardrobe.
“It was super enjoyable,” Jessica said.
The year 11 Winmalee High student will feature in the Brophy Brothers Circus in April, with shows in Toowoomba and Orange.
It follows success in The Australian Circus Festival in November, where competing against an international contingent, Jessica won a silver medal in the “Stars of the Future” show.
Jessica trains with the Zany Yare Circus at Springwood, in addition to weekly contortion training in Sydney with Jasmine Straga.
