Would you like to have a say on the future of the arts scene in western Sydney?
Experts are sought to advise the NSW government on the future of the thriving arts, screen and culture scene in western Sydney.
Minister for the Arts Don Harwin and Parliamentary Secretary for Western Sydney Geoff Lee are calling for expressions of interest for a roundtable that will advise on arts policies for the region.
Although the roundtable started in 2015, this is the first time that candidates have been able to put themselves forward for the body.
Minister Harwin said, “I am keen to ensure that the roundtable represents the needs of the region and is reflective of the fast-changing character of one of the most vibrant areas in NSW for the arts.
“I decided to throw nominations wide open so the government can be guided by the most informed and expert opinions that western Sydney has to offer in arts, screen and culture.”
Dr Lee said, “The eclectic multicultural mix of western Sydney has long provided some of the most exciting art and culture in Australia.
“The challenge for us is to meet the needs of this dynamic sector and to be responsive to its changing needs. We will only be able to do this if we recruit, and listen to, the advice of those who are immersed in the scene.”
Seven candidates are sought for the 2018 Western Sydney Arts, Screen and Culture Roundtable, with submissions now open until March 5. Details: www.create.nsw.gov.au/news-and-publications/news/western-sydney-art-screen-culture-roundtable/.
