“Council has identified illegally dumped asbestos in the northern portion of Knapsack Reserve, near Mitchells Pass, Glenbrook,” council posted on its Facebook page on April 19.
“Council will remove the material the week commencing Monday, April 23. The removal is expected to take 7 days, weather dependant.
“Part of Mitchells Pass will be temporarily closed as a result.
“An electronic variable message sign will be in place at the top of Mitchells Pass in advance of the planned closure, to adequately notify and detour traffic.
“The one-way section of Mitchells Pass; from Lennox Bridge to Whitton Memorial Place, will remain closed for the duration.”
Council apologised for inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
