Varuna and Music Hunter have teamed up to present the Miriam Lieberman Trio during the Sydney Writers Festival at the Cultural Centre for a rare Sunday afternoon concert on April 29.
Listen to enchanted tales by a well travelled songstress who crafts a narrative as well as she composes music. Miriam Lieberman is joined by impressive accompanists Kate Adams on cello and Suzie Bishop on violin.
With her soulful vocals, kora (21-string African harp) and percussive styled guitar, her music is both lyrical and uplifting. There's a strong musical chemistry between these players that effortlessly bridges the unconventional mix of African with Western classical instruments. Together they build lush vocal harmonies and soaring string arrangements around Miriam’s songs.
The concert starts at 4.15pm. Discounts for Varuna Sydney Writers Festival ticket holders and BM Cultural Centre members. Arrive earlier to enjoy the centre’s fringe exhibition for the Sculptures at Scenic World. Tickets at musichunter.com.au and also at the door if not sold out.
