Blaxland is the place to be from 9am to 2pm this Saturday, May 12 when the town honours the adventurous spirit of its namesake, Gregory Blaxland, by hosting its annual lively street festival.
Presented by Blaxland and Districts Chamber of Commerce, the eighth annual Blaxland Explorers’ Day will see the paved Station Street pedestrian mall – between the highway and Hope Street – filled with market stalls, food from local businesses, music and lots of gift ideas.
Blaxland High School will present a program of live entertainment from its boys’ vocal group The Billies, ukulele group, Bhukelective, The Chimes, The Corvettes, and Year 10 Voice works from 10am.
“The Blaxland Chamber thanks David Leishman from Blaxland High School in Blaxland for organising these performances and donating all production equipment,” said Blaxland and Districts Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Jo Bromilow.
“Our usual fantastic stall holders from the Blaxland Markets will be there where you can pick up some wonderful presents just in time for mum for Mother’s Day.
“There will be a variety of craft, jewellery, clothes, lollies, soaps, candles and much, much more. Come and support our local businesses and rediscover Blaxland.”
Unveiled at the 2016 festival, the brass bust of explorer Gregory Blaxland received a colourful makeover at last year’s event.
