Commonwealth Games dual medalist Matt Wilson was in Springwood at the weekend giving young swimmers some tips.
Kids from as far afield as Sydney and the Central Coast joined locals at a high performance swim clinic held at the Springwood Aquatic Centre.
Wilson provided a breaststroke lesson in the pool, and the kids were given plenty of advice from swim specialists including Wilson’s coach Adam Kable and swim stars Jacob Hansford and Brad Woodward.
“I like engaging with the kids. It’s fun for me, it’s fun for them. I like to give back as much as I can,” Wilson said.
The 19-year-old won bronze in the 200m breaststroke and helped the men’s 4x100m medley relay team to gold at the Commonwealth Games.
He said the medals have made him “hungrier if anything. It hasn't changed how I approach my swimming.”
The Springwood swimmer is in a block of intense training as he prepares for the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Japan in August. He will compete in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
