A female ragdoll cat was left with a broken jaw and numerous puncture wounds when two dogs attacked her, one running off with the cat in its mouth.
Last Thursday May 12, at about noon, a female bull terrier and a female pit bull terrier attacked the ragdoll cat in the victim’s front yard in Hazelbrook.
Police said the owner of the cat and another witness “made numerous attempts to scare the dog off however the Pit Bull has run off, taking the cat with it”.
Police said the owner was eventually able to remove the cat, who had suffered serious injuries including a broken jaw and numerous puncture wounds.
“Upon contact with the owner of the offender dog it was determined that she had dug out of a chain mesh enclosure.”
The owner was issued with an infringement notice under the Companion Animals Act 1998. Council rangers will decide what happens to the dogs.
Caffeine hit
Police are looking for a thief who broke into a Blaxland home desperate for a caffeine hit.
Blue Mountains Crime Manager, Detective Chief Inspector Dietmar Almer said a Blaxland woman contacted police to report there had been a “break and enter” and “unknown persons have gained entry to her property and consumed two cups of coffee”.
The incident occurred sometime between 4pm Friday May 4 and Monday May 7 at 8am.
“It is unknown how entry was gained however it appears no further property was disturbed,” he said.
Wanted a crane
Police are investigating the robbery of a 2011 White Mitsubishi Canter Tipper truck, which was fitted with a small lifter / crane at the rear. Between 4pm on Friday May 11 and Saturday May 13 at 6.30am, a thief removed the padlock off a storage yard in Scrivener Lane in Springwood to gain access to private property. Witnesses are advised to contact Springwood police on 4751 0299.
Drunk and speeding
A 21-year-old disqualified P-Plate driver from Bowenfels, near Lithgow, was caught by police “travelling at speed through a red turning circle” on the Great Western Highway at Katoomba and later failed a drink driving breath test.
The woman was caught at about 11.20pm on Saturday May 12 speeding through a red turning signal on the Great Western Highway into Goldsmith Place.
Police activated warning devices and turned in the same direction. The car was found in a nearby hotel carpark but the driver had fled.
“Further investigation identified the driver and two passengers inside the licensed premises. A 21-year-old Bowenfels female, confirmed to be the holder of a disqualified provisional drivers license admitted to being the driver and was subjected to a random breath test [and] returning a result of 0.134 [middle range].
Because of previous offences she was refused bail to appear in Penrith Local Court on Tuesday May 15.
