The fabulous Wine and Jazz Festival is set to be held at the Norman Lindsay Gallery on Saturday, May 26.
A National Trust property with its expansive grounds and quiet bush setting perfectly suit the smooth and upbeat sounds of jazz and exclusive wines and beers from some of Australia’s finest wineries.
The festival continues to be the most successful premier wine and jazz event in the Blue Mountains, an event not just for the hardcore jazz enthusiast or wine connoisseur but for everyone who enjoys a quality afternoon of wine, jazz, culture and friends.
Galapagos Duck, that enormously popular Australian legendary band with their unique and original jazz will, as always, bring the crowd alive. The Duck are considered Australia’s best-known and most iconic jazz ensembles. They’ve retained an essential sound and style of jazz, putting them up there as one of the world’s finest modern jazz bands with John Conley on double bass and bass guitar, Willy Qua on saxophone and drums, Richard Booth on saxes, clarinet and flute, Will Sargisson on keyboard and Rodney Ford on drums and vocals.
This year the Duck will bring to the stage guest artists Liam Burrows and Australia’s first lady of soul, Simone Dee. Burrows was a grand finalist on 2011’s Australia’s Got Talent. He is a regular at major jazz festivals in Australia and overseas.
This year the winemakers and brewers come from both large and boutique wineries. Over 75 varieties of wines, boutique beers and cider tastings will be on show for tasting and purchase.
The festival is one of the Mountains “must do” events. Galapagos Duck with guests, the best of the best Australian wineries and a no reserve auction. All for just $40.
This outdoor all weather wine and jazz spectacular starts at noon, the gates will open at 11am with the no reserve auction set for 3pm.
Bookings are essential; tickets are on sale now from Facebook.com/FriendsNLG/ or normanlindsay.com.au. Included in the ticket price is a wine glass for the tasting, gallery admission and free parking.
