Garbage collection is about to become more expensive in the Mountains, with increases of between $22 and $25 per annum planned for the 2018-19 financial year.
Collection charges for large garbage and recycling bins will rise by nearly double the CPI (which is 2.4 per cent), with some services going up by more than 12 per cent.
The standard large bin garbage charge will rise from $516 a year to $538.
The cost of having an additional bin rises by $25 to $300 a year.
The proposed changes are outlined in council’s fees and charges paper, available for public comment on the have your say section of the website.
The cost of getting rid of asbestos at the council tip is also set to increase, up to $359 for waste up to 250 kilograms and $406 for amounts greater than that.
Users of the Blue Mountains Theatre and Community Hub will also see costs increase with substantial rises in hiring prices for the green room, dressing room, interview and meeting rooms and the forecourt.
Charges have increased across the board by one-third, with the forecourt now costing $440 to hire for a day, and meeting rooms between $176 and $440.
There is a new fee of $810 for installing and removing event banners on Katoomba Street, with its Bannerconda system where a detachable arm is lowered to make the process quicker.
Sports clubs will be slugged more for their teams to play, with the charge per registered player per season increasing by $1 to $12.
Library users might be pleased to see the old $1 fee for borrowing a book without a membership card has been abolished.
