Roads and Maritime Services and Blue Mountains Police ran another safety blitz on heavy vehicles last month in Faulconbridge.
The compliance campaign was carried out at the Faulconbrige/Linden roadside inspection bay on Friday, April 20.
A severe weight breach was one of two major offences identified during the inspection of 71 vehicles.
The vehicle which was loaded with building materials and travelling to Dubbo had 3.6 tonnes more than the allowable weight limit on the rear axle.
The truck was grounded until part of the load was removed.
There were 17 minor and two major defects identified.
NSW Police issued penalty notices for the offences identified.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokeswoman said inspectors regularly patrol the Great Western Highway and carry out random heavy vehicle inspections to improve safety on the road network.
