Blackheathens celebrate their special day – despite freezing cold weather

Not even the cold weather could put a dampener on the annual Blackheath Day celebrations. Held on May 12 in the Blackheath Community Centre, hundreds of people attended the event and were treated to singing and dancing performances while perusing stalls laden with cakes, savouries, knitwear, and recycled bags and clothing. The free event is put on each year by the Blackheath Area Neighbourhood Centre and the Blackheath Chamber of Commerce.
