Author and winner of The 2018 Finch Memoir Prize, Vicki Laveau-Harvie is visiting the Blue Mountains to talk about her memoir, The Erratics.
Varuna The Writers House and Gleebooks Blackheath are hosting this event where Laveau-Harvie will be in conversation with one of Varuna’s writing consultants, Carol Major.
“The Erratics grabbed me by the throat and never let go.” said author and broadcaster Caroline Baum.
“It’s sharp vinegary tone added a thrilling and bracing note to this portrayal of an extreme dysfunctional family.”
The Erratics will touch many people’s hearts, especially those who have had to make hard decisions on behalf of their aging parents. This is literary non-fiction at its best.
Blue Mountains award winning author, Mark O’Flynn also says about the book: “It’s an increasingly pressing social problem what to do with aging parents…particularly if they live a long way away. Meet the mother from hell, a powerful portrait in a very real world.”
For anyone interested in writing their own memoir, come along on Saturday 16 June at 2.00pm at The George Boutique Hotel, 194 Great Western Highway, Blackheath. Cost is $10 ($7 concession).
Bookings essential at Gleebooks Blackheath ph 4787 6340 or email victoria@gleebooks.com.au.
