A Sydney violin teacher accused of indecently assaulting of a six-year-old girl told police he would have continued abusing her if he hadn't been confronted by the girl's parents, a court has heard.
Oscar Jinhyuk Ahn faced Parramatta Bail Court via video link on Saturday charged with 20 offences relating to several months of alleged abuse of the child.
Police say he indecently assaulted his young student during weekly music lessons at a family day care centre in Denistone East.
The 21-year-old allegedly rubbed his groin on the girl's bottom and leg during lessons from late last year until April, when the six-year-old stopped attending the class, a police prosecutor told the court.
A month after the classes stopped, the girl and her parents spotted the violin teacher at Costco in Lidcombe, sparking a confrontation, the court heard.
The girl drew back in fear and told her mother "he touched me", according to court documents.
The next morning, the accused allegedly sent the girl's father a message saying: "Yes I did touch [the girl]."
In court documents, police say he sent another message to the father: "I am very sorry about what has happened and what I did to [the girl]. I didn't think about how a child would feel."
While opposing the 21-year-old's bail application, the police prosecutor said he was a risk to the community and there could be other victims involved.
"His behaviour is blatantly predatory," the police prosecutor told the court.
"No conditions would be stringent enough."
His lawyer Greg Meakin said bail should be granted because the teacher wasn't a flight risk, and he was seeing a psychologist and wouldn't be a risk to the community.
Mr Meakin said the teacher had been "trying to come to terms with demons that made him do it" and he had been trying to stop himself from abusing the girl.
But Magistrate Robert About said any proposed bail conditions were not sufficient to allay concerns about further offending.
Bail was denied and the accused was ordered to appear at Burwood Local Court on June 7.
