The 11th annual Bathurst to Blaxland Great Walk stopped in at Katoomba Hospital on Friday to make a donation towards aged care at the facility.
They handed hospital general manager Andrea Williams a cheque before proceeding down the Mountains.
“Thank you to the Great Walk Foundation and their supporters for their very generous $10,000 donation to Blue Mountains Hospital,” Ms Williams said.
“It was wonderful for our staff to personally meet and thank the team when they dropped into the hospital on their way through Katoomba. The Great Walk Foundation has been donating to our hospital for many years, helping our staff to provide care and comfort to thousands of Blue Mountains patients.”
It was the 11th year of the fundraising event.
The foundation’s mission is to focus on the greater community needs within the Penrith/Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury region.
All funds raised go to nominated charities. Those which have benefited in the past include Nepean Hospital Children’s Ward, Great Community Transport, Riding for the Disabled and St John’s Ambulance.
The walkers set off from Bathurst on Tuesday, May 22 and finished up at Blaxland on Saturday, May 26.
