The 11th Ultra-Trail Australia festival was staged on trails from Wentworth Falls to the Megalong Valley from May 16-19.
It attracted thousands of runners from all over the world for 22, 50 and 100km races plus a time trial up the Furber Steps.
The Mountains are home to some of Australia’s best trail runners and two topped the podium.
After a five-year gap, Woodford runner Brendan Davies claimed his second Ultra-Trail Australia 100km title with a time of 9 hours 18 minutes 10 seconds.
Olympic 10,000m runner Ben St Lawrence, who grew up in Bullaburra, smashed by seven minutes the race record for the UTA 22km race with a time of 1:35:23.
Not to be outdone was Lucy Bartholomew, who also calls the Mountains home for much of the time, couch surfing while she trains here. With a time of 1:49:54, the 22-year-old smashed the female UTA22 record by 14 minutes. She won the UTA 100 last year.
