On Friday, June 22, Junction 142 on Katoomba Street will host a night of environmental short films.
Local filmmaker Joel Robinson has worked with a team to produce an acclaimed film about the Gardens of Stone, just west of the Blue Mountains National Park. This incredible landscape, sometimes described as a “geographical masterpiece,” has recently become the site of conflict between environmentalists and coal mining companies.
“It was millions of years in the making,” said Robinson, “now the Gardens of Stone needs our help.”
Also screening will be #StopAdani: A Mighty Force. This 30-minute documentary captures the power and passion of people taking extraordinary action to stop Adani from building one of the biggest coal mines in the world, threatening water, climate and the Barrier Reef.
Stop That Coal! short film night starts at 6pm at Junction 142, the Uniting Church Hall on Katoomba St. Entry is $5, which includes soup and chai refreshments. Tickets at www.trybooking.com.
