Springwood Women’s Bowling Club on Thursday (June 14) celebrated the success of their grade two and grade four teams that secured wins at the District Pennants Competition in March.
The bowlers marked the occasion with a flag unfurling, and a morning tea including a cake celebrating the achievement.
District president Jackie Lewis attended the event, congratulating the bowlers.
“Your commitment to your pennants has been unbelievable,” she said. “You have done really well and to get to the play-offs, you were so close. There’s always next year, but don’t ever give up.”
The club has less than 30 playing members, and considered the wins a significant achievement for such a small club.
The grade two team comprises: Julianne Wulff, Maureen Cole, Lesley Morgan, Kate Koutsoukos, Robyn Connolly, Bridget Blair, Margaret Mitchell and Julie Stanford.
The grade four players were: Martina Glavas, Margaret Thrift, Barbara Templeton, Daphne Stone, Ella Walters, Monica Hutchinson, Leonie Busch and Ulreke Messerli.
