Lyttleton Stores in Lawson has launched a crowdfunding campaign to transition to a not-for-profit co-operative.
A well-attended launch of the campaign on June 1 indicated strong support for the move.
The crowdfunding campaign aims to raise an initial working budget for the co-operative to become financially independent. Community patronage will help pay for research, consulting, legal fees, and advertising, as well as other operational and transitional costs such as Pozible (crowdfunding) fees.
Lyttleton Stores includes an organic grocery store, supplying quality fresh produce as well as a small commercial kitchen. It also features an artisans store, exhibiting handcrafted pieces from local, environmentally-aware designers, and a workshop space.
