The site has now been cleared following a car crash on the Great Western Highway.
The incident occurred between Leura and Katoomba about 1.15pm on Tuesday.
Traffic congestion is now starting to ease.
However, there are further delays on the Great Western Highway following a second crash on Tuesday afternoon.
The second incident, between two cars, occurred near Wentworth Falls about 1.35pm.
Motorists should expect delays, with one eastbound lane closed to traffic.
