There’s a proliferation of pink ribbons around Blackheath at the moment, a sure sign that council’s weed inspectors have been to visit. The inspectors, who gave residents notice that they would be coming on to their properties, appear to have targeted weeds that produce berries. It’s not surprising, considering the berries attract birds who eat them and then excrete them, unfortunately often over the National Park. Privet, cotoneaster and berberis were among the weeds the Gazette was able to identify.
