A police investigation is underway following a crash at Faulconbridge on Monday morning.
About 10am on June 25, a semi-trailer travelling west on the Great Western Highway failed to stop and collided with the rear of a Honda SUV.
The incident occurred at the Grose Road intersection.
The collision caused extensive damage to the Honda.
However, the two young women inside were not seriously injured and did not require immediate medical treatment.
Traffic was disrupted for a period of time as one westbound lane was closed for safety purposes.
Blue Mountains Police Area Command officers attended the scene.
A police spokesperson said as a matter of procedure, the truck driver was issued with a defect notice.
The driver was then escorted to the Faulconbridge truck stop, where RMS heavy vehicle inspectors will examine the vehicle.
