Twenty-five years ago there was no Taekwondo school operating in the Blue Mountains, and that’s when Andrew Johnston saw an opportunity to bring the excitement and fun of martial arts to the area.
Beginning as Wolves Taekwondo in 1993, Master Instructor Andrew’s vision was to create a facility with a family friendly atmosphere where students could learn valuable life skills from the practice of martial arts such as Taekwondo and, in 2008, Haidong Gumdo.
Celebrating a 25-year milestone in 2018, Master Andrew’s business has grown enormously and is now known as Wolves Martial Arts.
Success has been built upon a solid foundation of customer service and professional programs.
“Our sole focus at Wolves Martial Arts is to help people feel better about themselves,” Master Andrew said. “We aim to help our students build their confidence and develop greater self-esteem.
“What makes our club special is that we focus on the student, not the art. And while we are teaching self defence, we are also helping students develop focus.”
For Master Andrew, who is a 7th Dan Master internationally recognised Taekwondo examiner and also a 5th Dan Master in Haidong Gumdo, working in the Blue Mountains for two-and-a-half decades has been a privilege.
“I feel blessed to work with so many families in the Blue Mountains,” he said. “Everyone in this community is so positive.”
