The Ebbeling family’s success began with a dream and a Blaxland garage in 1969.
Almost five decades ago Pieter and Sandra Ebbeling started an ornate mirror manufacturing business operating out of the family garage. After great success, their business vision was forced to evolve, thanks firstly to a bushfire and years later an economic downturn.
In the mid 1980s, the husband and wife team found themselves the owners of a number of empty factory units. And so, a new dream developed, with the Ebbelings welcoming their first storage customers in 1985.
The business was to become Self Storage Plus.
The original customers were happy to store in a simple bulk storage arrangement – with their furniture stacked neatly in a corner of one of the factory units. Today, Self Storage Plus services all of the Blue Mountains and Penrith offering customers access to hundreds of purpose-built, fully secured storage units.
The couple’s son Simon now runs the business with the help of his wife Megan.
“We love living and working in the Blue Mountains,” Simon said. “We love that we truly get to know our customers, they trust us with their most precious possessions and they remain storing with us for many years or come back to store with us again.”
Storage units range in size from 1m3 up to 55m3. Customers can store a few boxes or the entire contents of their home. They have trucks for hire and sell boxes and packaging materials for moving house and storing.
