The Blue Mountains has another Australian Ninja Warrior star: 20-year-old Bryson Klein.
The former Winmalee High School student now lives in Glebe so he can attend to his tricky double degree in science and engineering at Sydney University. But in the past few weeks audiences have watched him make the different versions of the reality TV course look easy.
Recently he secured a place in the grand final of the competition – beating his closest opponent by more than a minute – and flying through to finish the finals course.
Bryson Klein rockclimbs in his free time with his father and has won some speed climbing challenges. He has made the skyhooks rings, the swinging peg boards, the warped wall and the final challenge – the rope chimney – look easy.
As the show’s host Ben Fordham said “it’s like nothing else, he’s this unassuming kid ... he’s been a giant killer, young, skinny and fearless… he turned up in his heat and blew everyone away.”
Klein said the course has “got harder because it was longer” and he had been pleased with his own efforts against “some of the big names”.
“They change the course to keep it interesting and fun to watch so there is a slight difference in difficulty,” Klein added.
Some 300 competitors were selected for the second series of Australian Ninja Warrior. No-one won in the first season. This year the winner could take home $200,000. The grand finale week starts this Sunday, July 29 on Nine.
