Anala Art Advisory in Glenbrook hosted ‘Behind the Art: Richard Morecroft in conversation with Bernard Ollis’ on Saturday August 11.
The intimate Ross Street gallery space was filled to capacity with locals and visitors in rapt attention to the lively interview, surrounded by a collection of Ollis’ latest works.
Ollis is a well-regarded international Australian artist and the former director of the National Art School.
His work is held in many important public and private collections.
The legendary ABC personality Richard Morecroft delivered a seamless insight to Ollis’ background, artistic training and current art practice.
Ollis entertained the audience with stories of his varied past and unique take on the Paris and Sydney streetscapes.
He recalled his response to a viewer who commented 'Paris doesn't look like that'. Ollis replied ‘But it feels like that.'
Wendy Sharpe, one of Australia's most awarded artists, was also in attendance at the gallery and generously providing her perspective on the current Australian art scene.
The enjoyable atmosphere continued as guests spilled out into the mid afternoon sunshine with wine and nibbles on offer.
The exhibition will continue throughout the month of August.
