The Evergreen Ensemble are back to launch their new album, Snow In Summer, on Saturday, October 6.
Evergreen Ensemble pays homage to the music of the windswept Scottish Highlands as well as exploring their Scandinavian ties. Ancient vocal and instrumental melodies are interspersed with new compositions inspired by these rugged northern landscapes.
The new repertoire reflects on the passing of time, the seasons, memories and loves lost, and connections to the land. Alongside 18th century sonatas the audience will hear arrangements of folks songs – sparse, ambient string textures, plucked notes resonating like stars in a clear night’s sky, a voice soaring high above.
Evergreen Ensemble is Shane Lestideau on violin, Samantha Cohen on theorbo and baroque guitar, Claire Patti with Celtic harp and voice, and Jenny Erikkson on acoustic and electric viola da gamba.
At Blue Mountains Theatre, Macquarie Rd, Springwood, on October 6 at 8pm. Tickets at the box office, 4723 5050 or www.bluemountainstheatre.com.
