“Some absolutely breathtaking talent on show tonight. Congrats to all performers, the organisers, and prize sponsors” was the response of Bill Quinn, a visitor at the Sing It! Say It! Change the Rules event at the Family Hotel in Katoomba on Setember 15.
Blue Mountains Unions and Community invited creative young people to perform original work in either song or spoken word to share the worries they have about our society and their solutions.
All performers at the free event were awarded a “Stop TAFE Cuts” t -shirts and the audience were given reusable “Change the Rules” shopping bags which were donated by the Electrical Trades Union.
The audience voted in a ballot to decide which of the performers should receive one of three major prizes.
Wolf van der Made won the Unions NSW Prize of $500, Elixir won the NSW Public Service Association Prize of $300 and Marinella Rose won the Blue Mountains and Community Prize of $200.
Blue Mountains Unions and Community thanked the performers, the audience and sponsors for their contributions to a very successful event.
