Springwood Neighbourhood Centre will mark Mental Health Month with three events in October.
Jenny Rankine will present a two-hour workshop on “Understanding Your Child’s Brain Development 0-5 years” on Monday, October 8. She has more than 25 years’ experience working with families and children as a child and family nurse. Her extensive background includes; perinatal and infant mental health, registered nurse, midwife and infant massage instructor.
Children are welcome at this event as the venue will be set up with parents and prams in mind.
A forum on “Understanding NSW Mental Health Services” will be held on Wednesday, October 7. Conducted by workers from Head Space, Flourish, Black Dog, The Suicide Prevention Network and members of the Nepean Mental Health Access team, it will include professional workers discussing their roles, their services and how they connect people to help they may need. The forum will also hear from people with a lived experience of mental health, and will include a Q&A session. Concession cardholders are welcome to reserve one or two of the 20 complimentary early bird tickets.
A further event, on Tuesday, October 30 is a two-hour workshop, “Awareness through Movement”, which will be held at the Presbyterian Church on Macquarie Road, Springwood. Anna Fisher, who has qualifications in Tai Chi and the Feldenkrais method, will demonstrate techniques to help recharge your whole body while enhancing your energy, your posture and co-ordination.
