An oil spill on Hawkesbury Road at Springwood contributed to three accidents on Saturday morning and extensive traffic delays while the clean-up took place.
About 9am, firefighters were called to clean up the spill, following reports the road was slippery and dangerous to drive on.
One accident involving two vehicles, with the occupants sustaining minor injuries, occurred near St Columba’s Catholic College. The spill took emergency services until 3pm to completely mop up.
“It has been suggested that the spill may have come from a vehicle where the fuel cap had not been put on,” said Blue Mountains Police Detective Chief Inspector Dietmar Almer.
Motorbike stolen
Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole a motorcycle from outside a licensed premises in Lapstone about 9.50pm on October 12.
CCTV footage captures a man described as 175cm tall, medium build, wearing three-quarter length blue denim jeans, dark gloves and a navy hooded jacket with a DADA emblem on the back, leaving a Holden Commodore and then rolling the 2009 Suzuki GSX607 motorbike away.
Later that night police received a report the motorbike was parked about 200m away. Before a tow truck arrived to collect the motorbike, it was taken again.
