It wasn’t exactly rush hour at the Commonwealth Bank in Blackheath this morning.
The branch closed last Friday but the bank has undertaken to run a shuttle bus service every pension Thursday to Katoomba.
Alas, at the appointed starting hour of 9.30, the only people around were a chap using the ATM, the bus driver and a woman from the bank who apologised that she was unable to make any comment to the Gazette.
The bus is supposed to run a loop from Blackheath to Katoomba until 1pm. It remains to be seen if anyone availed themselves of the service.
In the meantime, plans for a branch of the Bendigo Bank at Blackheath Newsagency are proceeding, and Bendigo in Katoomba has seen a sudden increase in applications for new accounts in the wake of the Commonwealth’s closure.
