Five schools came together on Thursday for The Upper Blue Mountains Independent Primary Schools Music Festival.
The event was hosted by Kindlehill School in Wentworth Falls, and involved students from St Thomas Aquinas Primary School, Our Lady of the Nativity Primary School, St Canice's Primary and Blue Mountains Grammar Junior School.
About 140 students from years 3-6 were involved, forming a mass choir and orchestra, which culminated in a concert on Thursday night (October 18).
Kindehill music co-ordinator S’Halia Bernard said it had been an incredible team effort from all involved, and it was so special to hear and be part of the 100-student orchestra.
“For the students to come to a different school and see that we all have the same interests and that brings us together for a common cause that we can unite in,” she said.
The concert was to begin with Monica Brown’s song One People, One Land, which Indigenous Elder Aunty Carol Cooper had introduced to several Blue Mountains schools.
It was to close with the song Flooding Rain by Harley Meads. “That’s what we need,” Ms Bernard said, coincidently, as the skies opened.
